Ms.Robin

Hello everyone, my name is Ms. Robin. I began teaching and tutoring students of various ages over three years ago when I decided I wanted a career change. Before that, I graduated with my bachelor’s degree from Harvard in 2011 and then started my career in finance and real estate project management. I had a great time doing this work for 8-9 years and then decided I wanted to try something new, so I started tutoring elementary school students, and then progressed to middle and high school students, as well as being a teaching assistant for middle school ELA at a charter school. I discovered what a beautiful thing it is to watch students learn and grow and develop into the people they are meant to be, and I decided to continue doing this work because I enjoyed it so much. In my free time, I love to focus on creating wonderful memories with my friends and family and planning vacations.

Mr.Andrew

Mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and engineering are Andrew’s bread and butter! With over 7 years of experience tutoring students in higher-level STEM concepts, he is eager to share his passion for learning with students of various backgrounds and abilities.

Andrew has earned several degrees: a BS in biology with a minor in biochemistry from Spring Hill College; an MS in bioengineering from Tulane University; and an MS in microbiology from Georgetown University, where he graduated magna cum laude. In addition to tutoring, he manufactures and tests biomedical devices. His regular, hands-on work in statistics, physics, and mechanical engineering—along with principles of biology and physiology—allows him to give students extra insight into real-world applications of principles.

His tutoring journey began with his little brother, who struggled with STEM topics throughout middle and high school. Andrew's passion for tutoring was cemented in college, when he “did everything from reviewing lessons on behalf of teachers in their recitation classes and guiding students through their labs to reviewing term papers for content and syntax,” he recalls.

“L`earning is a journey that starts with a question; I form those questions to cater to the student's unique experiences,” he says. He likes to bring complex, often intimidating concepts “down to earth” by emphasizing practical applications in their day-to-day lives. Ultimately, he wants his students to learn to ask themselves the kinds of questions that push them into deeper understanding.

An avid lover of all things astronomy, he can be found at the observatory on clear nights. When he’s not watching the cosmos, he enjoys rock climbing, weightlifting, and running.

Hello, my name is Samantha. I am an Indiana Hoosier living in sunny Florida the last 3 years of my life and don't see myself moving anytime soon. I feel that I have put roots down in Florida and am loving my teaching experience here, some days I go from the classroom to the beach! Teaching and tutoring have always been intertwined in my life, from helping students when I was in high school, helping my church kids with homework, or teaching students in my classroom at school; I have always had a passion to find a way for students to not just grasp a concept, but also enjoy doing it! As a child I too struggled to grasp many concepts and would become overwhelmed, but finding ways that I understood and then learning from them made me realize that I could then pass that on to other students in their learning journey! I have taught hundreds of students and it is clear that learners come in all shapes, sizes, and ways of learning things. Being able to be passionate about what I do and being able to guide them to discover how they learn is something I really enjoy and look forward to continuing that here at Humphrey's.

Mr.Kenny

Hi I'm Kenny, I went to Archbishop Molloy High School and graduated from St. John's University. I was enrolled in the school of Liberal Arts and Sciences as a Four year Undergraduate Physics Major. As a Physics Major I have an unyielding appreciation for Mathematics as they go hand in hand with one another. It is basically the language used to interpret Physics and is like second nature to me. I understand that this may not be the case for everyone and that Math can be very challenging and rigorous. I wish to help such students realize that Math isn't as intimidating as it may seem, because sometimes all you might need is a change in perspective and try to see things a little differently. I have taken many math courses over the years such as Calculus 1 to 4, Math for Physical Sciences and Ordinary Differential Equations with my Math GPA totaling to a 3.92, so I'm very familiar with the course material. I have +7 years of experience in tutoring algebra 1 through Calculus and have tutored from middle school to adults. I just wish to help students who are struggling with Math and in doing so hopefully give them a higher appreciation for the subject.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics from St. John’s University
  • Mathematics GPA of 3.92 and overall GPA of 3.4

Teaching Experience:

  • Tutoring Math from middle school through college level for over 7 years

Ms.Jennifer

Hi!  My name is Dr. Jennifer, and I'm a life-long learner.  I enjoy learning new things so that I can teach others.  Teaching has always been a passion of mine.  Growing up, I was a swim technician in the Summer, teaching children and adults how to swim.  I was also a church musician, a student tutor, and the cheerleading captain of my high school squad. As you can see, I was very involved in my community and school activities.  My teaching experience ranges from preschool to adult learning.  I have two children, a daughter (14) and a son (5), both of whom I homeschooled from kindergarten to this year.  I've also taught at the collegiate and corporate level.  No matter the level or age, I love connecting learning to every-day experiences and making learning fun!  I even enjoy changing my hair often to keep life a little interesting :-)

I am also a published author and communication life coach.  My background in communication studies, writing/English, and math have helped me connect with different learners.  Everyone learns differently, and I am always flexible to my student's learning style so that he or she can learn most effectively.

Aside from teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, personal fitness training, making jewelry, studying astrology, meditating, and music.

Mr.Stefan

Hi! My name is Stefan Coty and I am a Cornell University alum from the class of 2020. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science and completing the pre-physician assistant prerequisites has exposed me to various upper-level science-intensive courses. If I learned anything from my 4 years, it’s that the best sign of topic mastery is the ability to reteach the topic to a person unknowing of the topic. I always loved peer-to-peer learning and found myself leading study groups and helping others excel in our courses. It’s a great feeling to witness someone gain confidence and pride in a subject over time to the extent that they are in a position to teach others as well. My goal is to help the student become a teacher and to develop great study habits that they can take with them through their learning careers. When I’m not tutoring, I love to travel around the US and outside of the country.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science - Biology & Society (Cornell University) Will start attending a PA physician assistant program at Ithaca College later this year

Experience:

  • Tutored STEM courses at the college level including chemistry, algebra, and biology

I have extensive skills in all things writing, speaking, arguing, and critical thinking.

Mr.Joel

BIO: Salute, My name is Joel E and I have been tutoring now for 8 years. I started tutoring when I graduated high school at the age of 16 at the college of Tallahassee Community College, and then from there I went to Georgia state University which is where I received my bachelor's of science. From then on, I knew tutoring was not just a passion but also a great skill of mine. Since then, I have worked with large Corporations and Small L.L.C companies so I have quite the experience tutoring all kids from kindergarten all the way up to undergraduate seniors in college. On the other note outside of college I have been competing in chess competitions since I was in 6th grade, I have interned in laboratories at GSU, and TCC. Teaching is my higher calling; it is something I don't just enjoy for myself but I enjoy help educating fellow people. Education is the key to the lock of ignorance. After deciding working in a stem cell and cancer biology laboratory is not for me, I ventured into teaching and business. I cannot wait to help and meet the many students I will come across, because we all need each other to help each other, be better for one another.
